Camping - Doheny Beach

This past weekend we joined a group of friends and took the kids camping at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point!  I know, who goes camping with an almost 3-month old??  The prepping and cleanup took a lot of work, but it was worth it, (I think!).  The girls were out of their element being away from home - Natalie had more tantrums than usual and it was difficult for Rhys to be on her own.  But, we survived and I'm glad we went.

This is the same group of campers that we went with last year when Natalie was almost 10 months old.  This was the kids last year:
And this is the kids this year!
We have multiplied!  Last year there were 8 adults and 4 kids, this year we've added 3 new kids.   We don't anticipate that happening again next year :)  The kids range from 3 months to almost 4.  Craziness!

On Friday we took the kids to this cute little petting zoo.  It's been a while since we've taken Natalie to something like that and she had a blast!  She kept asking to go back to pet the rabbits again, and again.

They had the coolest "corn box" - they replaced the sand with CORN.  It was so fun to play in.  We spent a lot of time letting the kids pour it over themselves, burying each other, and trying to prevent the babies from eating it.

Natalie & David rode the train...We also got a ticket to ride the pony, but Natalie had had enough and couldn't be entertained long enough to stand in line and wait her turn.  Maybe next time.
We took walks and most of the group rode bikes.  We should have taken a picture of that.  I took Rhys in the truck since I wasn't sure she was old enough, but the rest of the group biked to the petting zoo.  7 adults and 6 kids on bike seats / trailers is quite the sight.  We got a lot of looks when we all went out!

We enjoyed some water and hanging out at the beach...

We spent a lot of time BBQing & enjoying bonfires...

See the brown tent in the back?  That's "the lodge"...it housed David and I, Natalie's Tinkerbell air mattress and Rhys' swing and pack N play and still had plenty of room to spare.

Overall it was a great trip and we are already brainstorming where we'll go next year.  I can't wait to see how much the kids grow and change!
