Bedtime this week has been rough, again. We lay Natalie down to sleep and she's fine for 10 minutes or so and then the screaming begins. So far it's lasted about 2.5hrs every night this week. So tiring. She wants me to either stand next to her crib or hold her.
In my attempt to figure out why she has been crying so much, I put my finger in her mouth to check her teeth on top. In doing so, I discovered TWO more molars coming in on the bottom. The bottom right molar is pretty much all the way in and it's so big. I had noticed her chewing a lot on that side, but she never lets me get a good enough look.
Poor thing, she is currently getting 6 teeth, at once. No wonder she is so upset. We just hope she can work through this and we can have our normal baby back! (soon!)

Catch-up Post
We've been back from Maui for two weeks already. We've been busy with work, Christmas shopping and all the normal things that come with having a 14-month old!
Maui was beautiful. The weather was a steady 82 degrees everyday. We spent time at the pool, time at the beach, did lots of walking around, did a dolphin / whale watch, and braved the Road to Hana (something like 600 hairpin turns and 50+ one lane bridges). It was a great last-minute vacation! We didn't manage to take too many pictures, but here are a few.
It was so nice to spend some family time together. Natalie learned so much while we were gone! She came home being able to Blow Kisses (she started right before we left), High Five, Clap her hands (usually the left is stationary and she moves her right to clap), and Drink from a straw!
We were home for a whole weekend, and then David left for a week-long work trip to South Carolina. It was definitely a productive week for him, and a trying week for me! It was the first time that I got to play single parent to Natalie and that was tough! Since I was doing both the drop-off and pick-up from daycare, I signed her up for an extra day so that I could fit in all of my work (it takes me an hour to get from home-daycare-work, so I did a fair amount of driving)! Plus dinner and bathtime and cleaning all alone. Thank goodness for David! To make things even more fun, Natalie had a really rough time going to sleep.
Pretty sure her lack of sleep was due to teething, although I didn't realize it at the time. Before Thanksgiving she had signs of a cold, and ended up getting teeth 5 and 6. Last night we were playing and she tipped her head back and we found teeth 7 and 8! First Molars are in!
We took our family Christmas picture at the park by our house. Thank goodness for the tripod and camera with remote! We couldn't get any good smiles from Natalie, but at least she is looking toward the camera!
More pictures of Natalie in her dress..
Yesterday we took her to see Santa. What is it about that costumed man that makes kids tremble??! Natalie never has any problem going to see strangers; yes, she might be cautious, but I've never seen this reaction. I was quite shocked.
Natalie hit the 14 month mark last week. I was able to get her on the scale, but forgot to get her height (will do that soon). She's still hovering right around 20lbs. I know she's gotten taller though because we used to open the fridge and it would clear her head when she was standing up, but now she's probably 2 inches too tall to do that.
Since it has been raining the past few days, we spent most of yesterday inside. Natalie is getting braver and braver with the walking. She was practically running along the couch. She grabs on after every 4 or 5 steps. She has been taking about 2 steps before sitting and crawling. Lots of standing up.
Her dancing skills have also developed. Now she gets her arms into it and twists her torso. Trisha gave her a mixed dance CD for Christmas. I need to catch her moves on video because it is just too cute.

Time change?
Quick progress report..Natalie is being so good! We had a two hour time change, and she is unphased! Took an extra 45 min nap in the afternoon, bed at the normal time and up at 7 (which felt like 9). She probably would have slept later, but our kind neighbors took their herd of children out before 7. Luckily we didn't hear them except when they were in the corridor.
Went to a welcome breakfast and took a walk. Natalie is sleeping in the stroller (that's a first, she must be in vacation mode),
and David and I are sitting by the pool.

Happy Turkey Day!
Happy Thanksgiving! We've been enjoying a quiet morning at home and are heading to David's parent's this afternoon for some Turkey dinner. Poor Natalie is fighting a cold. She was up for about an hour this morning before heading back to bed. She got up and had some lunch and a bath and is back to sleep! She did sneak in some Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade watching and danced to the marching bands.
Not sure where November went? Supposedly it's my "slow time" for work, but somehow I managed to be busy enough to not blog!
Natalie is still cruising along, but no walking. Last weekend she took 5 whole steps on her own!! but, that was the last of it. Everyday it looks like she could just get up and walk, but then she sits and scoots / crawls.
She's been learning lots of "tricks" lately. Just yesterday, she mimicked me blowing kisses. It is too cute! She holds her hand up to her mouth and then waits for you to say "yay". Today she tried clapping. She mostly just holds her hands together and looks at you with a big smile!
Here's some long overdue videos!
Evidence that she likes peas. David said he took this video for future blackmail purposes. Natalie can't say she doesn't like peas...
We left Natalie overnight for the first time a few weeks back. David and I escaped to Santa Barbara for our anniversary. When we got back, Luce & Pierre had taught her how to shake her head "yes".
Bathtime fun: David was singing the jaws theme and Natalie thought her toys attacking her was pretty fun.
Reading fun: If you listen carefully, you can hear her say her versions of "dog" and "meow". I'm not sure, but I think she might even be saying "mooo"?

Our Little Minnie
Happy Halloween!
I took a costumed Natalie to the Avila Valley Barn last week. She is such a little people-watcher! She was so busy watching the little boys run around to even think about looking at the camera. The few smiles I captured coincided with someone running past and entertaining her for a second.
We looked at the goats...
and chickens..
and cow, pony, and a donkey too. She was having fun until the goat licked her hand. Then she didn't know what to think!
We had our pumpkins on the front porch waiting to be carved, and then David brought an even bigger pumpkin home from work yesterday! We took Natalie out to see if we could get some smiles out of her. Slightly more successful with two people making funny faces at her.
But she still wanted to sit on the pumpkins and check them out.

12 (and a half) month stats + updates
Natalie had her One Year checkup last Friday! Green lights all around. She had a TB test and got her Chicken Pox vaccine. She sat there like a big girl and didn't even cry!! The nurse put her band aids on and then gave her a sugar-free lollipop. (She licked it for a bit, and then I took it away when we got to the car. It was dripping everywhere, and lolly + car did not seem like a good idea).
Stats:
Weight: 19lbs, 1 oz. (15%)
Height: 29 in (40%)
I got to babysit little Liam this week! It's amazing the difference 8 months in age makes. He is such a good baby and full of smiles!
He watched Natalie finish her lunch and Natalie offered him food. (These are the only pictures that turned out. I'm signing up for an e-photography class ASAP. I'm tired of blurry pictures!)
Then Natalie played will all the moving pieces on Liam's chair.
And THEN, BOTH KIDS TOOK A NAP. At least 30 minutes of silence. Amazingly, Liam is not the one that woke up. Natalie decided naps at home are for the birds. Especially when Mommy is in the other room playing with your cousin. (I wasn't, but I think she was afraid she was missing some action). So, Natalie had "quiet time in her crib" until Liam finished his nap.
Sometime in the past 2 weeks, Natalie has learned to kiss her babies. Grandma & Grandpa Remillard kept Natalie while we went to dinner for my Oct 15th celebration. They mentioned that she was kissing her baby. Neither of us had seen her do that. We knew she would pick it up if we asked, but the kissing part was new. She does it all the time now.
And tonight, MOMMY GOT KISSES!! When I got home from work, I picked her up and asked her for kisses, but she turned her head. So, David gave me a kiss and then I asked her again and she did it!! Three times. Makes me smile. Even if it was super slobbery.
Other newness. We took Natalie for her first ride on the bike. We got her a bike seat and helmet for her birthday. Last weekend we took her to the Bob Jones trail. Her helmet was too loose and she continued to pull and tug at it until she figured out how to get it off. I spent the whole ride worrying about it. When we got home, we ordered the smallest helmet we could find (Specialized Toddler helmet, if anyone is looking) and expedited shipping.
Saturday we took her to Orcutt for the 1st Annual Ride for Youth. David's work sponsored the event. We did 10 miles, and Natalie did great! She whined a little bit, but as long as I was riding next to her, she was happy. We didn't take our camera, but I'm going to see if I can get some pictures.
David put together Natalie's birthday wagon and they toured the backyard.
Natalie loves playing with her doll stroller. She likes to push it sometimes while standing, but most often on her knees. She thinks about getting in it too.
Dancing is another of her favorites. She loves when I push the music button on the stroller. I have a fun video, but getting it to convert for Blogger might be a task...It's so cute, she bounces up and down. On Saturday at the bike ride, she was bouncing around with the sound system.
Random picture..I found these crocs at Rite Aid. She's pretty steady when she stands in them. Her feet are still cemented to the floor for the most part. ALTHOUGH, she did take a few cautious steps last week! We found some new toys in her room and held one up. She was so excited that she moved her right foot forward. She did it a few times, but I haven't seen anything since.
